Eligibility and Process
The overarching vision of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) of promoting a culture of openness, accountability, and democratic governance in West Africa requires of it a constant appraisal of its procedures, programs, and projects with a view to repositioning itself to meet its own set high standards and serve as a good model of transparency in resource management at the human, financial, and technical levels.
Projects funded by OSIWA are sourced in various ways. Some of these ways include:
These proposals arrive in various forms and formats and hence require a greater amount of time and attention to carefully go through them as to most effectively route and execute funding requests. To correct this, OSIWA has posted proposal writing guidelines on its website. This is made available for users to adapt their proposals to a standard format that makes it easier for OSIWA staff to evaluate, create recommendations or declines, or request further information with an aim to more clearly understanding the project.
OSIWA awards grants principally to local organizations; West Africa based organizations in partnership with local groups; government institutions; regional as well as, sub regional organizations working in its core priorities areas.
Former grantees of the foundation may also apply, if the report for the previous grant has already been submitted and approved. |
