The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) is a member of the Soros Foundations Network, it actively commenced program work in 2001, but this mainly involved broad grant giving based on proposals that addressed issues of open society in the 18-countries of West and Central Africa.
THE AFRICAN CHARTER ON THE RIGHTS
AND WELFARE OF THE CHILD:
In April 2005, the Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA) awarded a grant to support research on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (Children’s Charter). The grant covered the period April 2005 to March 2006.
